History

The United States is situated in the central region of North America, possessing terrestrial borders with Canada and Mexico.
The United States also possesses territories, districts and other places around the world, primarily in The Caribbean and in the Pacific Ocean.
The main languages of United States of America are English and Spanish.
In America there are two ethnic groups: white (84%) and black (12%).
In the United States of America there are some religions: Baptist, protestant, Roman Catholic and Jewish.

Washington is located in the District of Columbia.

Flag

The flag of the United States of America was adopted on 4 June 1960.
The colours of the flag are red, white and blue.
The flag has got 13 horizontal strips, there is a blue rectangle with 50 white stars. Each of this star symbolizes a State, and each one of the horizontal strip represents one of the old Thirteen Colonies.
The red colour symbolizes resistance and value, the white colour symbolizes the pureness and innocence, and the blue colour represents perseverance and justice.

Monuments-entertainment

South Africa is a place full of surprises. As entertainment you can enjoy the magnificent scenery, relax under the sun in splendid beaches. It has many parks and reserves of animals. Many organised safaris are a way of being in touch with nature. The places of entertainment are of a high level.

Culture- traditions

The diversity of the population is reflected in the different modalities and cultural expressions. Numerous are the caves where they have found Rock Paintings. The first artists were influenced by current British and Dutch. The most common type of music is choral music.
The national music is alive and vibrant with different sounds covering African Pop, Jazz, and Hip-hop.

Capital-number of inhabitants

South Africa does not have a capital but three. Cape Town is the legislative capital, Bloemfontein is the judicial capital, Pretoria is the administrative capital and the seat of the presidency of South Africa.
The official languages are English, Africânder, Malaysian, and Zulu Xhosa.
The population of South Africa is 43,647,658 inhabitants.

Geographical features-climate

South Africa, as its name indicates, is the most southern country of Africa, occupying the entire southern tip of the continent between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean.

Gastronomy

The southern African food is the English style. They produce good red wines and white wines as well as sweets. Some typical dishes are brochettes of meat, bobotie, meat with the curry sauce, bredies and lobsters.

Sports

Football and dances are the most practised sports in southern Africa.

The most famous dance is kuduro.

Climbing and golf are also very practised.

English Theatre

On February 27th we went to the theatre in Chaves.
The English teachers of our school invited an English theatre company to come to Chaves. The name of the play was “Not one of us” and there were only two actors and one actress. They played all the roles.
The play was interesting and funny. It was about school, love and friends. There was a boy that was new at school and the other students didn’t accept him at first, but in the end they understood he was an intelligent boy and a very good friend, so he became “one of them”.
We liked the play very much, and we understood almost everything.
